RJM Asset Recovery works directly with the county to assist individuals with filing claims. We perform research and audits on county records and the county provides us with information and statuses on those claims. 

They probably did. Usually, a single notice is mailed to the last residence you occupied, informing you of the monies owed. We do the counties a favor by contacting individuals and streamlining the claims process so we can quickly move forward, file the necessary paperwork, and then get a check in your hand as soon as possible.

Each county has potential statute of limitations as far as how long your money can sit. It varies from county to county. However, the sooner you submit your claim, the easier this process becomes. Monies not claimed after a certain period may go directly to the county to use as they please. You cannot claim monies that have "expired." 

After a foreclosure or tax lien sale, the property is sold well below what the property is worth. That difference is a surplus or overage, and it's owed to the previous owners.  We research each case and alert the previous owners of this money. Once an agreement is established, we go to work filing your claim, verifying deeds, filling out the necessary paperwork, working with attorneys and the county to secure your funds.
